There are several fever reducing medicines for children available without prescription and in general they contain paracetamol / acetaminophen and/or ibuprofen. In the UK the two (2) most popular are Calpol® (paracetamol) and Nurofen® (ibuprofen) while in the US the most popular are Tylenol® (acetaminophen), Motrin® (ibuprofen) and Advil® (ibuprofen).
Bear in mind though that there is research that suggests that fever reducing medicines will prolong the duration of the fevers as they suppress the bodies natural defence mechanism to fight off the underlying cause of the fever. So use them only as directed by the product and/or your GP and if you find you are ‘over-dosing’ then you should read the information on “fever phobia” in the Get Help section.
